In addition to our stock offering with the Berd Talon hub, HAWK30 wheels can also be built with Industry Nine J-Bend or Onyx Vesper and Classic Hook Flange hubs in any of the standard colors and configurations offered by Industry Nine and Onyx. Custom hub orders take 4–6 weeks for delivery, so if you need wheels right away, go with the stock Talon hub option instead.
Industry Nine Hubs
Industry Nine J-Bend hubs are available in both Hydra and Solix models across a wide range of standard Industry Nine colors. Options include road and mountain bike hub geometries, Centerlock and 6-Bolt disc brake interfaces, and compatibility with SRAM XD, Shimano Microspline, and Shimano Hyperglide freehub bodies. Please note that Industry Nine Superboost hubs are only available with 6-Bolt rotors. After ordering, you will receive an email to select your hub color, hub widths, and freehub body type. Please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery.
Onyx Racing Products Hubs
All Berd wheels are also available with Onyx Racing Products Vesper and Classic Hook Flange hubs, designed specifically for Berd spokes. These hubs feature hooks on the hub shell that secure Berd spokes without the traditional J-bend rod, resulting in a durable connection with a clean look. Onyx hubs feature a completely silent sprag clutch freehub mechanism for instant power transfer and more control. Available in Centerlock only, in all road and mountain bike geometries including Non-Boost (including SingleSpeed), Boost, and SuperBoost. Front hub spacing options include 12x100 mm, 15x100 mm, QR x 100 mm (road) and 15x110 mm (MTB). Rear hub spacing options include 12x142 mm, QR x 135 mm (road) and 12x148 mm, 12x157 mm, 12x142 mm SingleSpeed (MTB). Available in all standard Onyx anodized and powder coated finishes. Well they look AWESOME! They came in early and cant wait to compare to old wheels. Should be fun.
Wheels are great feel super light and flickable. I went from aluminum wheels with tubes to the berds tubeless even though there on a e-bike I feel the difference and they change direction with ease and seem to absorb roots and rocks a little bit better. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the center lock rotors they work fine but 6 bolt has so many more choices and I don’t know why one wheel came with a black valve and one with a silver one?
So far perfect...had a little issue with the CenterLock disc and wheel magnets, but over came that.
Ride impression is stiffer but not harsh at all..get a lot of lookers too
I was not planning on purchasing these wheels as I didn't think a rider at my level would really appreciate them. Long story short I found myself in need of a wheelset and living close to Berd they were the only folks who could get me back on my bike quickly. The purchase process was great, the staff was responsive and answered all my questions and I had new wheels on my bike in a couple of days. As for the wheels they are amazing, and it turns out I can very much appreciate what they do for ride quality. Dealing with Berd =A++. Wheels= A++
P.S. I'm not dialed into the MTB tech world and the only reason I knew to call Berd was from Syd and Mackey.
The second I put these wheels on I could feel an instant difference. Not only is uphill accelerations easier and the bike lighter, but there is instantly noticeable compliance that feels like gaining a little bit of suspension in all directions. I have alllll the other fancy things, but these wheels are the most noticeable change I’ve made to my bike. 100% recommend.
