PolyLight Spokes Black

Berd PolyLight™ spokes are ideal for all cycling disciplines including mountain, gravel, road, and fat bike wheels.

• Weight: 2.5 g each (140 g/56 Spokes)
• Available lengths: 250 - 315 mm in 1 mm increments. 
  (Short/BMX PolyLight Spokes in lengths 178 - 249 mm will be available in Fall 2025)
  
• Compatible with standard J-bend, tangential straightpull, and hook flange hubs
• Notice: Black spokes can be very difficult to pull through tangential straight pull hubs. It is recommended that white spokes are coated black after building using the Black Berd Spoke Coloring Kit.
• 14 gauge (2.0mm) stainless threaded connection at rim (has flat section that is held with a special tool to prevent twisting)
• Integral eyelet for connection to J-bend or straight-pull hubs
• Double square secure lock nipples recommended (sold separately)
• Tangential straightpull hubs require tangential straightpull inserts (sold separately)
• Must purchase a Berd Builder's Kit (one-time purchase, sold separately)
• Berd Builder's Consumables Kits must be ordered for wheels built with J-Bend or Tangential Straight Pull hubs. If you are building wheels using Hook Flange Hubs these kits are not necessary. These kits include the following -  Rods for spoke loops (68), Wire with loop ends (4), rubber polishing bits (3), and Berd wheel stickers (2).

TECHNOLOGY

Berd spokes are made from an advanced polymer called ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) that has 15 times the strength-to-weight ratio of steel and floats on water. Berd spokes have an improved fatigue life compared to steel and are impervious to the elements.
