Berd's new HAWK27 wheels are the product of a partnership between Berd and We Are One Composites to deliver spokes and rims made entirely in North America. We Are One is located in Kamloops British Columbia, Canada, and Berd is located in Hopkins, MN.
Ideal for cross country and trail racing and riding, the new HAWK27 wheels combine lightweight and vibration damping Berd spokes with 27 mm internal carbon rims.
The HAWK27 rims are only 18 mm deep, which are the lowest profile 27 mm internal double-wall carbon rims ever made. This unique design yields engineered radial compliance and high lateral stiffness. The combination of vibration damping Berd spokes and our new radial compliant rim means more speed over rough terrain and less rider fatigue.
With a wide 3.75 mm rim lip, Berd's new rims spread out tire/rim impacts across a larger surface area to prevent tire and rim damage during acute impacts.
The HAWK27 wheelset is built around our flagship Berd Talon Hub featuring hooked hub flanges designed to work specifically with Berd spokes along with a dual-sprung 54t ratchet freehub.
HAWK27 is also available with Boost Industry Nine Solix Centerlock hubs, delivering almost instantaneous engagement, long-term reliability, and an impressively low weight.
These Berd wheels are also available to be ordered using the Onyx Hook Flange Hub System. This option is available in 12x142 (including single speed), 12x148, and 12x157 super boost rear spacing. Please allow up to 4-6 weeks for delivery of wheels with Onyx hubs.

I cannot say enough about these wheels or the staff, both are amazing. The wheels came in under the advertise weight, which is extremely rare in the bike industry. The Berd spokes make a huge difference in the ride, feels like I have extra suspension. I would highly recommend these wheels.
I was floored by the performance of my BERD XC25 wheelset on my hardtail so when I got a full suspension the first upgrade was a set of HAWKs with Talon Hubs. They're light but not the lightest and have taken everything I've thrown at them from the rocky mountains to Marji Gesick I would recommend these to anyone from enthusiasts to XC racers looking for a serious performance upgrade.
This is my second set of these wheels. (The other set is still rolling on a different bike.). I opted for the Berd hub this time since I’ve had nothing but trouble with the Industry 9 Hydra rear hub on the other wheelset. I already like this set better. Time will tell the durability of the Berd hub, but it feels solid out of the gate, and I’ve historically had good success with this type of no fuss ratcheting design.
Upgraded from a set of Enve XC wheels and just shocked at how different, lighter, smoother, and more responsive these wheels are. It feels like I've got an extra 20mm of suspension travel from the added smoothness. Rock gardens are distinctly different feeling and so are quick transitions that need lots of quick steering input.
I've been riding these for about 6 months on a custom steel hardtail frame. They create an amazingly compliant ride that seems to spin up with no effort and reward quick power. I've ridden in rocky and rooty terrain at lower pressures and am not a "small guy". Forekaster 2.4/2.6 seated perfectly. No pinch flats, no rim strikes. Just buy them, you won't regret it!
