Make your wheels better than new by rebuilding your existing wheels with Berd spokes. Your wheels will lose 100 – 200 g of rotational weight, which will help you accelerate faster and ascend easier. You will ride with ease over rough terrain with 200% better vibration damping than steel spokes.

• Significantly less expensive than buying new wheels
• Also applies to new hubs and rims
• Current lead time: 2-3 weeks from the time that parts arrive at Berd

Options:

• Choose what to (re)build:  wheelset or single wheel
• Choose the number of total spokes for your wheelset (44, 48, 52, 56, 60, or 64) or single wheel (20, 24, 28, 32, 36)
• Choose spoke color: white or black
• Default spoke nipples are Sapim's aluminum 16mm Double Square Polyax with Secure Lock in black

- Shipping: Find a box and pay for shipping your wheels, hubs, or rims to Berd. Please indicate order number on package when shipping. Ensure all loose components including tires, disc brake rotors, valves, tape, cassette, etc. are removed prior to shipping. Do not remove freehub body or end caps from the hubs, as these are necessary for proper wheel building.

Disclaimers:

  • Hubs that are not J-bend or standard tangential straight pull must be pre-approved by Berd prior to sending.
  • All rims must have access holes (centered over spoke holes) that allow tensioning from the tire side of the rim.
  • We are unable to rebuild many "system" wheelsets with proprietary spoke/hub/rim systems, along with all wheels that use radially laced, straight pull hubs.
  • Some rims are front and/or rear specific. Please notify us of these situations before the build is started to ensure that the wheels are built correctly.
  • Some hubs require modifying the hub flange, which may void the warranty of your hub manufacturer.
  • Please contact us with any questions about these situations or if you need something that  is not listed.
  • On single wall or shallow rims, the spokes & nipples have a chance of protruding into the rim bed, which can lead to tire/tube failure. Please ensure that there is proper clearance between the rim bed and spoke bed before ordering.

Berd Service and Ride quality

Bred went above and beyond getting my wheels ready for Unbound and beyond . They worked hard and gave me a little extra effort to assure I had my wheels for the race. Comfort , weight and durability were spot on . I believe any other wheel would be hard pressed to even come close to BERD .
Bravo ! I highly recommend these wheels . I am a 4 time vet of Unbound , Leadville with 40plus years of racing and endurance riding. I have ridden a lot of wheel sets , these are at the pinnacle of wheel builds .

What are you waiting for?

I can't say enough good things about the Berd wheel reuilding service and of course the spokes themselves. If you're on the fence, don't be. Just go ahead and get these spokes.

I got a new berd wheelset for an enduro bike last year and wanted to give them an extended try before committing the rest of my bikes to the hub modifications that would be needed. After being thoroughly impressed riding the first wheelset on SouthEast singletrack for almost a year, I decided to start replacing the spokes on the 3 remaining gravel bikes in the house. I just received my first rebuilt wheelset, the turnaround time was great: < 2 weeks.

The improvements you gain from the spokes are absolutely true: lower weight of course, but lower rotational weight is a game changer. These spokes actually make the bike feel lighter when you're riding it as opposed to just lowering a number on the scale. For me this equates to being less fatigued after any ride and also makes the front end feel lighter and snappier while still be totally in control. The added compliance is a nice bonus too. Your first ride you might not even recognize the new feeling of the bike underneath you. It's awesome.

Ordering Tip: The wheels do not come back taped up, so be ready with the proper width rim tape when they return them to you. It would be super cool if Berd could offer this for an upcharge, but really no problem at all.

2 wheelsets down, 2 to go.

Currently riding on:
- Nobl TR37 with i9 Hydra hubs
- Nextie 29UML34 with DT Swiss 240 rear and Dynamo 28 15 110

Berd Custom Wheels

I called and asked about building up a custom wheel set with my hubs and new RaceFace ARC 35 and ARC 40 rims because I wanted to find out if alloy rims are a good choice for Berd spokes. The customer service guy was very knowledgeable and said that many wheel sets were made with alloy rims and customers liked them and had no issues. So I went on the website, used the custom wheel calculator and ordered my wheel build. I boxed and shipped the rims and hubs they following day.
It took about 1 month to get an email with tracking number and get my new wheel set at my door.
Initially when I set them up on my steel Esker Hayduke hardtail I thought I had low tire pressure because of the supple feel. I checked the tire pressure and it was fine.
Since then I have had them on the trails at least 1-2x a week. I absolutely love the way these wheel ride! They make my bike feel lighter even though I use heavy tires with wide CushCore. Here is a video showing my Berd wheels on my Esker Hayduke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tDLFtjUrBA

Snappy and comfortable

I sent a set of King hubs and WAO Convergence Rims to Bird for a build. I did not want to take on the responsibility of chamfering the eyelets in the hub myself. In about two weeks time, they sent me back a beautiful set of wheels, laced, tensioned and perfect. I have since ridden (avg 24km per ride) about 30 tracks. I live in Squamish, BC, and these wheels do double duty between a hardtail with a 140mm fork, and a trail bike setup as a 140/160. I ride hard, I ride hard stuff (not always well :) and I take care of my gear. I weigh 180 lbs with gear. My rides go straight up, then straight down (Squamish) and have plenty of g outs, compressions, rocks and jumps. These 28 spoke wheels appear invincible. Excellent spokes, and build definitely add to the already great rims and hubs. I like these wheels so much, I will be building a second pair for my other bike. They are worth every penny to me.
